Snails in Rain.

Twitching eyestalks
duck and tremble,
move left,
up and over.

Pairs of translucent
eyestalks, alien
and calm.

As they are sensing the
rain,
plish plish plish
onto the leaves.

As their shells become
wet, and slick, shining
in the night's lightning.

Plish plish,
the snails make their sucking
sounds with their crawling
limb, reaching up
to test the heavens.

[They do make such strange motions]
