So forth came new tides
under the moon and the
constant tugging
of time,
the years slipping
as silver fishes across
the currents.
While in the sedate
lulling of small ships
we stood and braced ourselves
against the north winds
whistling change
down from the mountaintops
and the hillsides.
-
We opened our quivering mouths
to let go of these tongue-tying
beasts we so long wrestled with
and the salt filled our lungs,
cleared us and tried to make us whole.
Our bodies swaying with stars
and our arms upheld towards
the horizon and these
proverbial new dawns
which break just as the others
always have.
-
But in their cracking
and becoming
I think our insides
felt a shifting,
unsettling in the bones
of the earth
and this progression
which leads us to our boats
in the night,
brings our hazy eyes
to the edge of what is,
and so we stand
-
mouths open and
shouting
into the blissful darkness
we only presume is
the forever,
the infinity we are taught
to long for,
so our bones never crack and settle
and so our eyes may
still drink in the depths,
and our gasping lungs may always
taste the somber need left
in the shifting winds.

2012
As a part of 2012,
I am beginning a blog solely
for posting, tagging, and archiving
my poetry.
If you find this,
I hope you enjoy these poems,
for it's what I do with my life.
Beginning soon
be expecting a poem
posted here everyday.
I'm trying once again
to diligently work at this craft everyday.
Maybe from time to time
I'll post writing links,
writing photos,
or other writing-obsessed craziness.
Basically,
welcome to my brain
when it's on my favorite drug:
poetry.
